Meet the faces behind Millbrook: Bob and Kate. In 2005, we relocated from North Somerset to our beloved Millbrook, which we now call home and work diligently to cherish through the seasons. Kate finds late April, as spring bursts forth, the most enchanting time when every day brings a new spectacle in our garden. For Bob, winter holds a special allure with its crisp frosts and the vibrant hues of willow trees. Our children, Iszi and Louie, are active contributors to the Millbrook experience, delighting in assisting and connecting with our valued guests.
Since 2009, Millbrook has been recognised with over 20 prestigious awards — from Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year to South West's Best Dog Friendly Business and three consecutive Feefo Platinum Awards. It's a reflection of the care every member of our team puts in every single day.
Our Family
Millbrook holds a unique place in our hearts, not only for us but also for our cherished families and friends. During your stay, you may have the pleasure of meeting some of our loved ones: Bob's grown children and their partners, including our grandchild, Myles, and our dear friends, Oli, Abi, Charlotte, Kate, Iszi, Louie, Suzy, JJ Kowalski, and Kate's brother, Alan. Rose Cottage is located in the nearby village of High Bickington — just 5 minutes from Millbrook. It was lovingly restored by us in 2011. This charming 18th-century retreat offers a tranquil escape with its own private hot tub, two bedrooms, and is perfect for friends or a romantic break in North Devon.

Tree Top Escape
Tree Top Escape is nestled at the top of the valley, about 200m from the Mill but with its own private entrance. It's a 5-star luxury treehouse, on stilts high up in the trees, with spacious accommodation for four guests and offering intimate weddings with up to 14 guests.

Our Team
Our dedicated team at Millbrook ensures your stay is exceptional. James tends to our grounds, while Vanessa meticulously oversees housekeeping. With the green thumb of our gardener, Jenny, our spaces flourish. Meg and Nic handle weddings and office tasks. We encourage our team to engage with guests, so feel free to seek their advice on Millbrook or the local area.
Kate & Bob
Millbrook has been Kate and Bob's family home since 2005 and they even married in the Summer House in 2010 — they love where they live. Millbrook is a labour of love. They are both on the estate day to day. Kate looks after the accommodation and designs the website and technical side, and Bob looks after the weddings, estate and staff. Their favourite place in North Devon is Saunton Sands beach — it's an epic beach. Food-wise they love Morans' in Westward Ho! for the fabulous Thai food and cocktails.
Iszi & Louie
Iszi and Louie, Kate and Bob's kids, adore nature and North Devon. They're sports enthusiasts who enjoy Squires Fish and Chips, The Pierhouse, and Saunton Sands beach with their loyal dog Ruby. They love dune sprinting and rock pool exploring.
Nicola (Nic)
Nic looks after Tree Top Escape — from handling enquiries to coordinating weddings, Nicola is a fabulous Tree Top Escape Coordinator and works with Sam looking after the day-to-day running. Her favourite place is The Boat House at Instow, on a sunny evening sipping her favourite wine, Whispering Angel.
Meg
Meg is part of our fabulous office team and loves to coordinate weddings at Millbrook. When not at Millbrook she also runs her own beauty business. She loves spending time with friends and family and is a big foodie. Her favourite restaurant is Lush in Barnstaple!
Ness
Vanessa (Ness) is housekeeper at Millbrook and has a great eye for detail. She's a fan of Italian food and loves Bellunos' in Bideford — she's partial to a nice gin and tonic or Bailey's on ice!
Justine
Justine is a wedding coordinator at Millbrook and Tree Top Escape, and also one of our wonderful caterers — so couples are very much in safe hands. She has a great eye for detail. When she's not looking after our couples, Justine loves getting out for long walks with her three dogs and spending time with her two children.
James
James is our groundsman and the person responsible for keeping Millbrook's 32 acres of beautiful grounds in tip-top shape. A real country lover at heart, he knows every corner of the estate and takes great pride in maintaining the woodlands, meadows and gardens that our guests love to explore.
Jenny
Jenny is our fabulous gardener. You can usually find her somewhere on the grounds or planning new plants in the greenhouse. She loves the sea and spends lots of time at Saunton Sands with an ice-cold cider, eating fish and chips from Squires in Braunton — and she raves about their homemade tartare sauce!
Sam
Sam is our weekend wedding coordinator at Tree Top Escape. When she's not working at Millbrook, she is also a childminder and owns a small beauty business. She's horse mad and loves a bit of Sex on the Beach (to drink!) or is partial to a glass of prosecco.
Cat
Cat is Tree Top Escape's housekeeper, ensuring that everything is perfect ahead of your arrival. Cat's bubbly and friendly personality means you can't help but smile when in her company. When she's finished making your stay perfect, she loves to spend time outdoors with her family and her furry family.
