Millbrook is a 32 acre working estate set in a valley with 3 Self Catering Cottages, 1 open plan self catering apartment and a ground floor Bed and Breakfast suite with own access. The Mill (the location of the cottages) was built in 1791 and converted in 1992, Lakeview was built in 1989 and is a coach house and The Secret Garden is part of the old 18 century cow shed that was converted in approx 1989.


Wheel chair users will find Millbrook estate difficult due to its terrain and soft ground. All accommodation offers large button phones compatible with T loop position on hearing aids. We also have a amplifier for use with T loop hearing systems to help users adjust the volume on the TV if necessary - please ask on booking

• We have no brochure; all of our information is contained on our web site.
• Bookings can be made online or by phone
• Buses operate from High Bickington Bus stop 1 mile from cottages by Turners Tours 01769 580242
• Nearest Train Station is Umberleigh 3 miles away. Nearest mainline train stations are Tiverton Parkway and Exeter St. David’s.
• Distance to High Bickington village From Millbrook - 1km up a hill which is steep for approximately 200m. There are no pavements
• There are several local Taxi firms who provide access and telephone numbers are provided in each cottage, they do charge to collect about £12
• This access statement will be published on our web site and will can be made available on request in font size 16 on arrival. In addition a welcome pack in size 16 font is available.
• If required we can offer extra facilities including a Tloop for the TVs and vibrating alarms for our fire alarm system this needs to be pre organised

 

 


Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• On arrival there is ample car parking at the entrance to the cottages.
• The drive is a graveled and we do not consider it suitable for wheelchairs.
• Additional guest/visitor car parking is available in front of the kennels on request.
• Car park surface to reception entrance is a smooth tarmac surface and is level.
• In order to avoid light pollution external area lighting is adequate but is kept to a minimum.
Main Entrance & Reception
• All guests arriving should go to the main house entrance.
• All surfaces from your vehicle into the cottages and entrance area are not suitable for wheel chairs (grass hills, gravel). No handrails or grab rails at present, however we are happy to provide assistance.
• Rear and side access to your vehicle is fine at the reception parking area.
• Assistance can be provided, please mention at time of booking.
• A pad and pen is available on arrival
• Additional keys are available for access to your accommodation
• Escorted familiarization tour is given to all guests around the main buildings
• Arrival time is after 4 p.m. We ask that all new arrivals must be before 10 p.m. We are available 24/7 if necessary
• We welcome dogs in 2 of our cottages and service dogs are most welcome. Water bowls and bedding should be packed. Please advise at time of booking, we charge £5 per dog per night. Service Dogs are free.
Grounds and Gardens
• The Mill cottages (Corncott, Wheel Room and Pulley Mill are located in the same building old Mill building.
• The Secret Garden has its own access with steps and gravel to access opposite the mill
• Lakeview is situated approximately 120m from the mill building
• Millbrook is located within a valley and is a working estate, wheel chair access is not possible to the gardens
